It is no secret that Regina’s “gumbo clay” causes havoc on our city’s foundation walls and basement floors. Because of this, HENVI’s foundations are built on piles, and we use ICF (insulated concrete form) wall construction, poured with 32 Mpa concrete (not the typical 25 Mpa, which is technically to code). Going the extra mile for our foundations ensures that your basement will stand up to our cold climates for years to come.  Furthermore, most basement floors in Regina are poured as a slab on grade, which is only supported by the ever-changing ground underneath. At HENVI, our basement floors are structural slabs. This means that your floor is supported by piles, and a 6” void space is left between the concrete and ground underneath. This very important, as it allows for the ground to expand and shrink, without causing your floor to heave.  Now… why spend all this extra money for a house that I’m not going to live in my whole life, you ask?  Resale.  Think of how many homes have you looked at that are 20 -30 years old with foundation problems, that leave you continually searching for that forever home.
